It all started back in 1995 when a couple of friends decided to make a band. Nothing very special I guess, like most of the bands were made. Q.Who are the members of the band if any and please tell us about it? after frequent changes in the line up today The Skys are: Jonas Čiurlionis – guitar, vocals. Jonas has a PhD in Philosophy and teaches at Vilnius U-ty. Bozena Buinicka – keyboards, vocals. Bo is student of music compossition at Vilnius Music and Theater Academy; Alex Liutvinskij – guitar; Alex graduated from Music Academy and h eis a guitar teacher Justas Tamasevicius – bass; Justas is IT Professional. Q How would you describe your sound/genre? Prog related classic rock, influenced by the 70s but with many modern alternative, pop, acoustic elements. Q. What formal training or previous experience do any of the members have? Jonas finishes music school on violin. He attended music composition classes at Roosevelt U-ty, Chicago. Bo is student of music compossition at Vilnius Music and Theater Academy; She also studied jazz with top Lithuanian jazz players Chekasin, Ganelin, Gotessman Alex graduated jazz guitar from Vilnius Music Academy Justas is self taught bass player Q. Are you working w/ a producer on your upcoming album? Yes. John Young. He’s pretty known figure in rock scene, playing keyboards for Bonnie Tyler, he was also member of Scorpions, played for Asia, Fish. He also manages his own progressive rock project. Q. Who would you say has been the biggest influence on the bands sound or that you have used as inspiration for your music? All good bands and musicians not necessary famous ones. If you could play anywhere in the world or with anyone you wanted where and who would it be with? Wembley stalium J Q. What has been your greatest experience so far either individually or as a whole? Great experience was working with some amazing guys like Steve Rispin – sound engineer (credits include Tina Turner, Elton John, Uriah Heep, Asia, etc), John Young – producer, keyboards (ex-Scorpions, Bonnie Tyler), Martin Beedle –drums (Cutting Crew, Sarah Brightman, Zucchero), Dave Kilminster – guitar (Roger Waters band), Snake Davis – sax (Eurythmics, Paul McCartney, Ray Charles, etc), Anne Marie Helder – bac voc. (Mostly Autumn, Panic Room), Tony Spada – guitar (Holding Pattern). Talking about live shows – Crescendo festival in France, New York International Music Fest where we won an award „Best International Group“, and many other fests in many different countries. Q. Do you have any upcoming events or news you would like to tell our readers about? Check out our new album and if you like it – download it Q. Where do you see yourselves or hope to be in about 5 years? Well one cannot predict. I remember when we started the band our „big dream“ was to play Vilnius Sports Hall – the biggest and most prestigious venue at that time in Vilnius. We achieved it in one year time. You never know what‘s gonna be around the corner. We hope ‘Colours of the Desert’ is going to be successful album . We hope to play many big festivals and have another album out. We hope to spread our music world wide and make people happy.
