Where is the boundary that separates rock music as art and fun? Maybe we can find some criteria but most probably it is felt intuitively. Criteria might be various – composition, harmony, professionalism. When you listen you hear it is serious music. I’m not saying that major or dance music can not apply to be art. It can. There’s some high quality pop music. However, professionalism is not the only criterion that separates art from not art. The most important criterion is most probably katharsis. I’m supporting Aristotelian tradition that katharsis is in minor, tragedy and not comedy.
